The first step toward a professional future in hospitality and linguistics

For the first time, RANEPA St. Petersburg has awarded 78 bachelor’s degrees for graduates of three new programs: Linguistics, Tourism, and Hotel Management. It’s a significant milestone for the Faculty of International Relations and Politics, proving that the university trains professionals capable of immediately entering the workforce in the fields of international tourism, hospitality, and intercultural communication.

Elena Balashova, the director of the Linguistics program, noted, the curriculum has been adjusted twice since the program has been launched. The students’ primary request focused on practical skills; consequently, the program was reoriented from a purely translation-based model toward training in the linguistic support of professional activities, with an active involvement of experts in the teaching process.

Graduates are proficient in written translation from English, Spanish, and Chinese. Most plan to pursue a master’s degree, choosing between a philology track focused on machine translation and digital text processing, a teaching or tourism and hospitality.

Dmitry Burlov and Alexander Yakovlev, directors of the «Hotel Management» and «Tourism» programs respectively, highlighted that the practical part has been strengthened for new intakes: students will start internships starting as early as their first year.

Anastasia Delva, Head of the Foreign Languages Chair, and Marina Morozova, Head of the Chair of Tourism and Hospitality Management, agree that the initial experience of training bachelor’s students in these fields has showed that students at the Presidential Academy in St. Petersburg are in demand on the labor market, have up-to-date competencies, and are ready to adapt quickly to professional challenges.
