RANEPA St. Petersburg students in International Relations contributed to a large-scale research

On the 20th December, “Alternative Social Media Platforms of the Global Majority” research outcomes were presented in TASS Russian News Agency in St. Petersburg.

Ulyana Kuznetsova, Sofia Mustyats, Zhanna Yandovskaya, Alain Saab, Konstantin Zelensky, Nadezhda Karakash, Egor Korolev — students at the Faculty of International Relations and Politics at RANEPA St. Petersburg interning BRICS and SCO Innovative Diplomacy Center joined the research team of over 40 Russian and international experts.

This pilot research covering more than 80 social media platforms from 133 countries, was focused on the issues of digital sovereignty and independence, which are becoming increasingly important due to the dominance of global IT giants.

Our students shared:

It was an invaluable research experience. We collected and processed data on social networks in different countries. The research presentation was the culmination of this process. It was not just a teamwork output; we saw our efforts took shape and meaning. It was not just an important professional milestone, but also an inspiring starting point for our future research.
