On December 29, a festive “New Year is coming” event was held at the Russian Language Courses.

Students from China, Ethiopia, Sudan, Chad, Tanzania, Uganda, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Cuba as well as traditional magic guests — the Father Frost and Snow Maiden performed by the students from Somalia and China — come together to learn traditions of the most favorite Russian holiday in a funny and cozy ambience.

Quiz and contests prepared by the teachers and senior staff, singing the Russian folk song “Oy, Moroz, Moroz”, a lot of joy and Russian sweets contributed to a festive feeling.

Students were fully engaged and prepared presentations about their countries and season’s greetings. All performers were awarded lovely gifts.

Not only setting a perfect mood before a Holiday week, but offering an opportunity to get to know each other better and feel home as well as immersing international students in the culture and national traditions of Russia and other countries have already become a good custom at RANEPA St. Petersburg.
