For March, April and May, 8 Bachelor’s students in Linguistics and in International Relations as participants of the academic mobility program have been studying at the North-West University of Political Science and Law in the ancient capital of China, the city of Xi’an.

The academic mobility programs with Chinese universities are very popular among RANEPA St. Petersburg students.

We really like studying here. Each student can choose one area of study that aligns with certain interests and objects, in particular, Chinese language and culture, economics or law. All classes are held in Chinese, which creates efficient language environment . We deeply dive into the history of hieroglyphs, study the rich culture of China and, of course, actively improve our foreign language skills. The curriculum is moderate, so we can explore the country and get to know the local culture better. We have already made a lot of friends, both international and Chinese students…

Our students not only learn the selected majors but also study Tai Ji Quan — a Chinese martial art, and even took part in the performance at the Spring Festival in April.

International academic mobility is a great opportunity for students to be sure that they have chosen the right career path and to apply their Chinese language knowledge and intercultural communication skills in practice… Chinese is taught at the Bachelor programs «International Relations» and «Linguistics», and since 2024 also at “Political Science”.
It is planned to include Chinese in «World Economy» Bachelor program as well.
