RANEPA St. Petersburg at the UNESCO International Forum

On 23-25 October, the IV International Forum “The role of creative industries in the socio-economic development of tourist territories, including those within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network” organized by the Committee for Tourism Development, St. Petersburg City Government, under support of the UNESCO initiative took place in St. Petersburg.

The Russian and international experts, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, universities and creative businesses came together to exchange experiences and discuss innovative tourism development strategies using the input of creative industries, sustainable practices, and digital technologies.

RANEPA St. Petersburg teachers and students in Tourism and Hotel Management, as the Forum participants, gained an up-to-date knowledge on current industry trends and had an excellent opportunity to interact with international experts: this practice-oriented approach to learning used by the Presidential Academy fosters competencies demanded in the creative economy and international tourism.

The UNESCO International Forum showed that the future of tourism and creative industries is not feasible without a comprehensive approach to education. It’s crucial for young people to realize not only the cultural but also the economic value of creativity. St. Petersburg is becoming a model city where culture and innovation contribute to sustainable development.
