RANEPA St. Petersburg joins the generations of researchers in International Relations

On 12-13 March, RANEPA St. Petersburg Faculty of International Relations and Politics hosted the 8th Kosov’s* Readings.

Teachers and students of RANEPA St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg State University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, MGIMO University, Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Samara State University of Economics, Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, speakers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO, Russian-Tajik Slavonic University and other universities came together to discuss the currents issues of international relations. 

Prof. Dr. Kosov made a special contribution to the development of scientific and international relations at RANEPA St. Petersburg, the partnerships set up by him have been developing successfully. Prof. Dr. Kosov was a guide and mentor for students, emphasizing the importance of transferring scientific knowledge from recognized experts to young researchers. A high-level professional pioneered the development of Eurasian studies at the Academy, was at the forefront of the Eurasian Youth Assembly, and served as deputy editor of several scientific journals. He also maintained an approachable and friendly demeanor in communication.

Over 120 attendees joined the conference on the first day, over 40 scientific presentations were given, at the panel discussions a wide range of issues – from international security and the transformation of global institutions to regional integration and the historical aspects of international relations — were discussed.

On the second day, research was presented by undergraduates, graduate students, and young scientists from various universities. The youth program traditionally serves as a platform for continued scientific discussion and allows young researchers to connect with a professional and academic community which marks the continuity of global generations.

*Prof. Dr. Yury V. Kosov (1954 — 2018) – a renowned Russian scientist, the main focus of his research: world politics, CIS activities, Russian foreign policy; RANEPA St. Petersburg Deputy Director (as from 2013), Head of the International Relations Chair (2002-2017), Dean of the International Relations Faculty (2010-2013), Deputy Editor-in-Сhief of RANEPA St. Petersburg scientific journals “Administrative Consulting”, editorial board member of scientific journals “Eurasian Integration”, “Baltic Region”.
