The roundtable discussion «International Electoral Cooperation: Prospects and Young People’s Views» took place at the Tavricheskiy Palace in St. Petersburg, the headquarters of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS.

Young researchers and experienced experts discussed a wide range of topics: innovative formats for legal education of young voters, prospects for international cooperation between youth electoral commissions, the specifics of national and international election observation, and expanding youth participation in election observation missions.

Evgeny Levshov and Gleb Dzyuba, final-year law students at RANEPA St. Petersburg, presented the report “Youth Electoral Commissions as Competence Centers: Building Talent Pool for the Electoral System”.

Our students shared:

Participation in such an event is extremely important not only for law students. It is an excellent opportunity to move beyond the theory of the electoral process studying and dive into practical application of legal norms to identify both the strengths and weaknesses of various opinions and dogmas.

Gleb Dzyuba

…Students can not only gain new knowledge but also share their opinions – not only with peers from other regions and countries, but also with current officials. This knowledge is an extremely valuable asset for both students and universities breeding grounds for talent.

Evgeny Levshov

The event was not only a discussion platform but the gateway between professional community and emerging talents prepared to address election system issues in Russia and the CIS member nations.
