RANEPA St. Petersburg researcher and expert joined the international conferences in India and China

Valery Konyshev, Chief Researcher, Strategical Planning and Eurasian Integration Research Laboratory, RANEPA St. Petersburg, participated in two international conferences in India and China.

On October 27-29, Prof. Dr. Konyshev joined the international conference “Sagarmanthan: The Great Oceans Dialogue” which took place in Mumbai, India. The large-scale event co-hosted by the Observer Research Foundation and India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is a premier annual international platform focused on critical discussions around the blue economy, maritime logistics, ports, shipping, waterways, and the global ocean economy.

RANEPA St. Petersburg resercher gave the presentation focused on building new logistics routes in the changing geopolitical landscape in Eurasia, in particular, the North-South international transport corridor development (Murmansk/Arkhangelsk/St. Petersburg – Mumbai).

According to forecasts, the North-South Corridor has the potential to become the basis for the entire Eurasian transport system as an alternative route to the Suez Canal, ensuring uninterrupted cargo deliveries from Asia to Europe at double speed.

On 5-7 November, Prof. Dr. Konyshev gave the presentation at the international scientific conference “Issues and Prospects of the Russian-Chinese Cooperation in the Arctic” hosted by Harbin Engineering University, China.

Key topics included joint development of the Northern Sea Route infrastructure, cargo transit, prospects for the blue economy development and scientific cooperation. Of particular interest were discussions on how Russia and China can enhance bilateral cooperation amid sanctions pressure.

Prof. Dr. Konyshev’s invitations to international conferences as a speaker underscores the high level of research conducted and projects implemented at the Presidential Academy in St. Petersburg and their recognition at the international level.

Both the reports were prepared under support of the Russian Science Foundation as part of the project “Modeling Arctic Cooperation within BRICS: Opportunities and Challenges for Russia in the Era of Global Turbulence” No. 25-18-00379.
