On 14 April, the 55th Plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IACIS) took place in the Tavricheskiy palace, St. Petersburg. RANEPA St. Petersburg delegation was headed by Andrey Khlutkov, Director.

Valentina Matvienko, IACIS Council Chairwoman, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, welcomed delegates at the meeting focused on discussing model laws related to international cooperation in the following fields: environmental sustainability and management, digitalization and digital transformation, tax regulatory, finance and other.

It should be emphasized that the Presidential Academy has been actively working with IACIS in the field of drafting model laws, particularly, the discussed model law “On digital environment, its infrastructure and regulatory in CIS member states” was drafted by RANEPA St. Petersburg scientists, Faculty of Law.

“We had witnessed a convincing example of constructive cooperation between countries interested in the common good and prosperity, realizing that only through joint efforts stability and prosperity can be achieved for our peoples. The key topics raised – environmental sustainability and artificial intelligence — are indeed very important and relevant: amid rapid progress it is vital to maintain a delicate balance between an intensive development on the one hand and a careful attitude to available resources as well as respect for ethical standards – on the other. It is this balanced approach which addressing the issues within the integration process framework in the post-Soviet space should be based on.”
