The Spring Scientific Decade at RANEPA St. Petersburg Faculty of International Relations and Politics

Starting from 11 March, the large-scale 10-days event marked the 25th Anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations and Politics.

At the Opening Ceremony the guests were heartfully welcomed by Olga Nesterova, Deputy Director, and Natalia Muyzinik, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Politics, both at RANEPA St. Petersburg.

The agenda was really impressive: students and teachers as well as over 50 alumni joined meetings with renowned experts in International Relations, lectures of leading teachers, the monograph presentation and a number of scientific events, in particular “Kosov’s readings” which opened the Decade.

Over 40 students at local universities took part in the business game “The UN Security Council”. One of the important events was also a research seminar “Modern Africa in the context of political, geographical and political science research,” organized jointly with RANEPA St. Petersburg graduates employed as International Relations professionals in the IPA CIS and the Institute of Geosciences at St. Petersburg State University. Of a special interest was a lecture of Sergey Melkonyan, a 2015 graduate and now a researcher in the Institute for The Applied Policy Research Institute (APRI, Armenia), when he shared his experience of working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and advisory think tanks.

“25 years ago, it was a challenge to start training of yesterday’s schoolchildren in International Relations… For me personally, this is also a very important festive event as 25 years ago I started to work at our wonderful university. Now our Faculty offers over 10 bachelor, master and PhD programs and is proud for providing high quality training and using a unique approach to the graduate’s status.”
