Description

According to Russian legislation, the availability of qualifications in compliance with the orientation of the educational programme and acquired competencies enables its holder to individually pursue such professional activities as: journalistic author activity, editorial activity and project activity.



Forms of in-class activity:
 lectures, practical classes, and students’ individual work.

Aims

In accordance with the types of activities that have been mastered, the graduate is ready to solve the following professional tasks:

•   creation of materials for various types of media сonsidering their specifics;

•   ensure the compatibility of materials in accordance with language norms, professional standards, formats, styles, technological requirements in a newspaper, magazine, on information tape, in television, radio, digital media adopted in various types of media;

•   participation in the development and correction of the media project concept, determining its format, in various types of programming, planning in positions that stipulate a higher education.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• ability to understand the highlights of journalistic job in social, informational, creative terms;

• ability to effectively use a foreign language for professional tasks;

• apply professional competences related to journalistic writing: ability to create materials for mass media in requested genres given the deadlines, budget and formats using various semiotic systems (verbal, photo, audio, video, graphic), depending on the type of media and post them on various multimedia platforms;

• apply professional competences related to editorial work: ability to analyze, evaluate and edit media texts, ensure their compliance with norms, standards, formats, styles, technological requirements approved by various types of media;

• apply professional competences related to projecting and analysis: ability to develop a local author’s media project, take part in development, analysis and correction of a media concept.

•ability to use the modern technical base and the latest digital technologies.

Career opportunities

The graduates are able to work in mass media, publishing houses, digital media, television and broadcasting media.
