Description
The programme provides Bachelor’s degree students with academic knowledge and practical skills required in social work, management of social work, coordination of social work. Thus the graduates have the opportunity to find employment in Governmental institutions,non-governmental social work international centres, charity organisational centres, in departments for HR- and social work of global corporations, etc.
The programme is aimed at developing students’ social and personal qualities, they are motivation, self-discipline, diligence, as well as interpersonal skills, team spirit, responsibility for the results of professional activity, and ability to acquire and apply academic knowledge and new skills.
In the course of the programme Bachelor’s degree students should study phenomena of global trends in social work, international social work cooperation, types of social work, social work management, social work charity movements in home country and abroad.
Forms of in-class activity: lectures, laboratory work, practical classes, and students’ individual work.
Aims
We aim to develop:
- managerial competences that include theoretical knowledge and practical skills (social experience) of an employee, necessary both for working with specific clients and for organizing social protection of human rights. The basis of this type of competence is knowledge of the scientific foundations of the organization of the relevant state structures. This also includes knowledge of the technology of work in the social sphere, the basics of the theory of management organization, in particular the work of a leader, ethics, psychology of leadership, culture of speech, etc .;
- psychological and pedagogical competencesare being formed through knowledge of psychology and pedagogy. The psychological competence of a social we teach that it is on a sufficiently high level, since in the process of social worker activity is to solve general psychological, differential psychological, socio-psychologicaland other problems.
We are convinced that social worker must constantly improve his method of work, improve his professional skills in order to be able to perform any professional task in a changing environment. We support and stimulate our students in this.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to and we are making sure that the student does possess these competences:
— possess a culture of thinking, be capable of generalization, analysis, perception of information, setting a goal and choosing ways to achieve it?
— be able to logically correctly, reasonably and clearly build oral and written speech;
— be ready to cooperate with colleagues, work in a team;
— be able to find organizational and managerial solutions in non-standard situations and be ready to take responsibility for them;
— be able to use regulatory legal documents in their activities;

— be able to critically assess their merits and demerits, outline the ways and choose the means of developing merits and eliminating demerits;
— to be aware of the social significance of their future profession, to be highly motivated to carry out professional activities;
— to use the basic provisions and methods of social, humanitarian and economic sciences in solving social and professional problems;
— use in professional activity the basic laws of natural sciences, including medicine, apply methods of mathematical analysis and modeling, theoretical and experimental research;
— to understand the essence and significance of information in the development of a modern information society, to be aware of the dangers and threats arising in this process, to comply with the basic requirements of information security, including the protection of state secrets;
— be able to take into account the specifics and modern combination of the global, national and regional in the development of the social sphere and management, culture of public, state and private life;
— to be able to understand and use in professional and social activities the modern combination of innovative and traditional, socio-historical and everyday-pragmatic, sociogenetic and actual-network, technological and phenomenological;
— be able to use the specifics of the ethnocultural development of their country for the formation and effective use of socio-engineering and socio-technological practices for providing psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work;
— to be ready for the effective application of psychological and pedagogical knowledge for solving problems of social, national-state and personal development, problems of social well-being.
— to be ready for the development and implementation of social technologies, taking into account the peculiarities of the modern combination of global, national and regional, the specifics of the socio-cultural development of society;
— to be able to provide a high level of social culture of technologies for social protection of the weak strata of the population, medical and social support, the well-being of citizens;
— be ready for mediation, social-preventive, consulting and socio-psychological activities on the problems of socialization, habilitation and rehabilitation;
— be ready to provide social protection, assistance and support, the provision of social services to individuals and social groups;
— be able to create a socially and psychologically favourable environment in social organizations and services;
— be able to innovate in the social sphere, optimize its combination with the traditional culture of personal and social life;
— be ready to solve the client’s problems by attracting appropriate specialists, mobilizing their own strengths, physical, mental and social resources of the client;
— be ready for the prevention and prophylaxis of personal professional deformation, professional fatigue, professional “burnout”;
— be able to purposefully and effectively implement modern technologies of psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work, medical and social assistance to the population;
— be able to assess the quality of social services based on the achievements of modern qualimetry and standardization;
— be able to competently use legislative and other regulations of the federal and regional levels;
— be ready to comply with professional and ethicalrequirements in the process of carrying out professional activities;
As well as we are making sure that the student possesses researching competences, thus we teach them:
— to be able to explore the peculiarities of the culture of social life, well-being, behavior in the social sphere of various national-ethnic and gender-age, as well as social-class groups;
— have the ability to analyze the specifics of the socio-cultural space, infrastructure for ensuring social well-being of representatives of various social groups;
— be able to identify, formulate and resolve problems in the field of psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work, medical and social assistance;
— be able to determine the scientific and practical value of the research tasks being solved in the process of ensuring social well-being;
— be ready for the systematic use of the results of scientific research to ensure the effectiveness of social workers, professional support for the well-being of various segments of the population, ensuring their physical, mental and social health;
— be able to draw up practical recommendations on the use of scientific research results;
— be ready to present research results in the form of reports, abstracts, publications and public discussions;
— be capable of forecasting, designing, modeling and expert assessment of social processes and phenomena in the field of psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work, medical and social assistance;
— be able to participate in the work of research teams conducting research in various areas of ensuring social well-being;
As well as we teach to develop organizational and managerial competences:
— have a high social culture of managerial activity of employees of social protection institutions, personnel who contribute to the social well-being of citizens of their country;
— to be able to take into account, in the process of carrying out organizational and managerial activities, the peculiarities of the national-cultural, gender and age and social-class status of citizens in need of help, ensuring well-being;
— be able to coordinate activities to identify people in need of social protection, medical and social assistance;
— be capable of organizational and managerial work in the subdivisions of social institutions and services;
— be ready to coordinate psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work of various organizations, institutions and enterprises, as well as the activities of various specialists in solving problems of social protection of the population;
— be able to work with the personnel of enterprises in social institutions, to plan and coordinate activities to solve urgent problems of social work, medical and social assistance;
— be ready to manage business negotiations in the field of organizing work on social services for the population;
— be able to develop proposals to improve the efficiency of the labor motivation system for specialists from social protection institutions, to analyze and develop proposals to improve the efficiency of the control system of their activities;
— be ready to ensure a high social culture of their participation in the social-engineering and social-project activities of institutions involved in solving problems of social protection, well-being of the population;
— be able to take into account the specifics of the national cultural space and the nature of the life of various national, age and gender and social class groups as objects of social and project activities of institutions of the social sphere;
— be ready to develop innovative social projects within the framework of measures of state and corporate social policy, ensuring social well-being, medical and social assistance;
— be able to participate in pilot projects to create innovative platforms for institutions in the field of psychosocial, structural and comprehensively oriented social work;
— be ready to develop complex and individual social projects to attract additional financial resources (fundraising);
— to be able to create social projects to work in difficult life situations, to ensure the physical, mental and social health of people.
